Born in 1972 in Utopia, Central Australia, Abie Loy Kemarre is a member of the Anmatyerre language group. She is the granddaughter of Kathleen Petyarre and learned to paint by observing her grandmother’s technique and understanding of Dreamings. Abie began painting in the mid-1990s and quickly developed her own distinctive style, characterised by precise line work and meditative repetition.

Her paintings often depict stories of bush medicine, body paint designs, and ceremonial symbolism. She is especially known for her works related to the Sandhill Dreaming and Leaf Dreaming, where fine linear patterns reflect movement, energy, and transformation.
