Teresa is the daughter of Barbara Weir. She was born in Darwin but spent time in Papunya with her mother. Teresa has been painting since 1990. Her paintings are highly detailed and her current work has an underlying influence from Barbara's 'My Mothers Country' series. During the past ten years Teresa has tended to paint for selected galleries in the area that she is living. In the past she has painted for Framed Gallery in Darwin, Fremantle Gallery, Pearl Art Gallery in Broome, and is now currently painting for Mbantua Gallery. Teresa exhibited with Barbara in Sydney in 2001 and an earlier work was successfully sold through Sotheby's Auction May 2000.

The Red Centre Garden opened in Canberra's botanic garden in October 2013. The pavement artwork in the garden is based on artwork by Teresa.
