Wally was well known for his sculptures. His paintings are typical of the Utopia male artists style. He describes country and ceremony through fine linear dot work, forming concentric circles and parallel lines.
Wally was married to Janice Clarke Kngwarreye and she is also a very accomplished painter. Together they have seven children. The late Louie Pwerle, respected sculpture and painter, was Wally's brother.
