Ivan is the son of Peter Maralwanga, a famous Aboriginal bark painter with works found in major art galleries and museums across Australia. Ivan is the ceremonial leader of his clan and the keeper of his tribe's stories and history. He was taught to paint by his father and paints the complex crosshatching designs passed on to him.
