Katie painted for over 10 years, focusing primarily on Atwakeye (Bush Orange). She employed very fine dots to depict the flowers and seeds of the bush orange. Her younger sisters, Janie and Pauline Morgan, are also painters. Katie won the 2012 City of Hobart Art Prize, making her the only Aboriginal artist to receive this prize at the time.
Katie paints the Atwakeye, known as the bush orange. The small compact tree of the wild orange plant has creamy white flowers that open during the night and wither before the end of the next day. The fruit hang down on long stalks and usually ripen from October through January.
