Lennie was the daughter of Oscar Namatjira and the granddaughter of Albert. She grew up in Hermannsburg, where she learned to paint in the style of her father and grandfather. Lennie was also known by her married name, 'Lankin,' and sometimes spelled her name as 'Lenie.'
