About Delvine Petyarre
Delvine Petyarre was born in 1975 at Boundary Bore Outstation, Utopia. She belongs to the Anmatyerre language group and is the daughter of well-known artist Glory Ngarla and the niece of internationally acclaimed Emily Kame Kngwarreye. With such a strong lineage of female painters in her family, Delvine developed her own artistic voice while honouring the Dreaming stories passed down through generations.
She began painting as a young woman in the early 1990s and quickly established a reputation for her refined use of colour, movement and repetition. Her artworks are most often associated with the Bush Yam Dreaming, using delicate dotting and radiating lines to symbolise the underground growth of the plant and its cultural significance. The visual rhythm of her work reflects both ceremonial structure and the cycles of nature.
