Caterpillar Dreaming
Tommy was born in 1948 at McDonald Down Station in Utopia, the son of Jacob Jones and Dolly Kemarre. Coming from a family with a strong tradition of painting, Tommy shares his artistic heritage with his brothers Lenny, John and Freddie, as well as his sister Lily Sandover, all of whom are artists.
The central theme of Tommy's work is the Caterpillar Dreaming from his father's country, which he vividly describes as being "black, green, and grey, resembling a witchetty grub."
