Long-Jack was born at Kalipinpa, a rain Dreaming site northeast of Kintore. During his childhood, he lived with his family on their traditional lands before moving to Haasts Bluff settlement in his teens. Later in life, he became a resident of Papunya, where he served as a councillor in the 1970s and was ordained as a Lutheran pastor in 1984. A former stockman, Long-Jack was also one of the founding members of the Papunya Tula Artists.
