Cindy is the daughter of Mijili Gibson Napananka. Their family has a long tradition of painting, notably Mijili's brother Pinta Pinta. Cindy's collaborative work with her mother started in late 1999. Their paintings depict elements from their country, landmarks, sand hills, vegetation and salt lakes. Their paint application is thick, using a broad spectrum of colours to represent the physical elements of the desert and country. Cindy's father's country is around the Lake Mackay area, Walla Walla.
