Lorna has been painting for Mbantua Gallery since November 1998 along with her sister Maggie Dixon Penangke. Her style reflects the unique work of her large extended family.
Initially Lorna worked in the medium of batik along with her sister-in-law Julie Purvis Mpetyane and over eighty other women from the Utopia Region in Central Australia. Her work in batik is featured in 'Utopia - A Picture Story'.
Having also worked in the medium of wood, Lorna has produced a number of sculptures of birds, animals and human figures for Mbantua Gallery.
Lorna's granddaughter Gabrielle Purvis Ngale commenced painting in 1999 and has also experimented with sculpture, with the encouragement and support of Lorna. Lorna's community has long been a place of close family relations and a supportive community.
