Bronwyn belongs to a large family of artists. She is the daughter of Doreen and Harold Payne and is sister to Joseph, Violet, Richard, Johnny, Jimmy and Laura Payne. Being the eldest daughter, she carried on the tradition of painting and began for Mbantua Gallery in September of 2000. Bronwyn is known to have a creative flair, having experimented with different mediums, including wood carving and painting on various native seeds used to make necklaces.
Bronwyn grew up at Artekerre (Three Bores) which is in the Utopia Region of Central Australia.
Bronwyn paints the story of the Antyarlkenh (Ipomoea polpha). This plant has large, soft leaves that trail along the ground and soft purple flowers that bloom in spring if conditions are favourable. Beneath the ground, tubers (yams) grow large and round. The Antyarlkenh, similar to the Anaty, is now very rare to find. Though scarce, it is known by its reputation and is considered to be the best of all the native tubers.
