Peter was taught to paint on bark by his father and grandfather before moving to arches paper. His style reflected that which can be seen on the rocks across Kakadu. Peter was one of the only surviving members of his clan that still painted and his works are regarded highly by collectors, museums and galleries across the world. He used to be a guide and mentor for visitors at the rock art sites in his country, having a wealth of knowledge about the many sacred sites and myths in Aboriginal culture in Western Arnhem Land.
