Katie Petyarre Morgan (1959-2019), also known as Katie Petyarre Moss, was an Alyawarre artist connected to Kurrajong Bore in the Utopia region.
Over a decade of painting, Katie developed a distinctive style using fine dot work to represent the flowers and seeds of Atwakeye (Bush Orange), an important story from her Country. Her detailed works reflect both her cultural knowledge and connection to the landscape.
Katie was the winner of the 2012 City of Hobart Art Prize, becoming the first Aboriginal artist to receive this prestigious award. Her younger sisters, Janie Petyarre Morgan and Pauline Moss, are also artists.
