Artwork Story
Emily, Geyla, Minnie and Molly
The Pwerle Sisters
Step into the Dreaming with this remarkable collection of four original artworks by the Pwerle Sisters - Emily, Geyla, Minnie and Molly. Raised in the remote bush of Central Australia in the Utopia region, northeast of Alice Springs, the sisters were born in the 1920s and 1930s and grew up living a traditional life grounded in story, ceremony and a deep connection to Country.
Each artwork in this collection measures 30 x 30cm and reflects their shared culture while showcasing their individual artistic styles. Vibrant colour, rhythmic movement and powerful storytelling unite the works, with each painting carrying its own energy and meaning.
The late Minnie Pwerle, the eldest sister, was the first to begin painting after encouragement from her daughter, Barbara Weir. Her bold and expressive style quickly gained national recognition, establishing her as one of Australia's most celebrated Aboriginal artists. Her sisters Emily, Molly and Geyla followed in the early 2000s, each developing their own unique artistic approaches while maintaining strong cultural connections to their shared stories and Country.
The late Minnie passed away in 2006, followed by the late Molly in 2023 and the late Geyla in 2026. Emily continues to live and paint in her community of Atnwengerrp, keeping her cultural knowledge and traditions alive.
This collection presents a rare opportunity to acquire original works by all four sisters - a unique celebration of their lives, artistic legacy and the rich cultural heritage they share.
