Reggie was born in Alice Springs and began painting while attending the Alice Springs Convent School. He developed his style by observing older artists painting their stories along the local dry rivers. His early work reflected the 'Namatjira' style, focusing on the landscapes around Alice Springs.
Throughout his life, Reggie took on various jobs, including working as a station hand and in fencing, but he always made time for painting. By 1985, he started experimenting with dot painting, using this technique to depict his stories about life in his mother's country, Barrow Creek and Neutral Junction Station. His art often tells stories of hunting and gathering bush tucker, as well as traditional Aboriginal life.
This landscape by Reggie reflects the colour and formation of the many ranges, hills, gorges and flora that are found in his country, Barrow Creek Area, West of Alice Springs in Central Australia. This country truly has the blue and purple colours of the ranges in the distance, the rich colour in the sand and an amazing contrast when the plentiful flora is in bloom.
