Delvine Petyarre was born in 1982 and is an Anmatyerre artist from Alhalkere Country in the Utopia region of Central Australia. She began painting for Mbantua Gallery in 2001 and is part of a strong family of artists.
Growing up at Boundary Bore, Delvine learnt through the influence of her family, including her sisters Anna Price and Joy Petyarre, who are also artists. Her parents, the late Michael Kngwarreye and the late Glory Ngale, passed on important cultural connections to Country and Dreaming stories.
Delvine predominantly paints My Country, as well as Atnwelarre (Pencil Yam), a story connected to her father's Country, Alhalkere. Her works are recognised for their fine dot work, subtle colours and carefully layered brushwork.
Now living in Alice Springs with her daughter and extended family, Delvine continues to share the stories and beauty of Alhalkere through her contemporary paintings.
