Wayne grew up through the traditions and customs of his people in his country, Atheleye in the Utopia Region. He attended Homestead school in Utopia as well as Catholic High School and Alice Springs High School in Alice Springs. Wayne is the eldest of three children; Maryanne and artist Carmen Jones are his sisters.

Along with his sisters and extended family members including Dorrie, Georgina and Tommy Jones, Wayne is a gifted artist who paints with wisdom and precision. His artworks often reflect elements of sacred men's stories belonging to Atheleye. Wayne began painting, professionally, in approximately 2006.
