Delvine started painting for Mbantua Gallery in November 2001 and predominantly paints the dreamtime story of the Atnwelarre (Pencil Yam). The dreamtime of the Atnwelarre was passed down to her from her father's country, Alhalkere and although this is the only Dreaming that she actually paints. Delvine also owns other Dreamtime stories belonging to Alhalkere country.
Delvine's paintings incorporate beautiful colours and brushwork inspired by her two older sisters, renowned artists Anna Price and Joy Petyarre.
The Atnwelarre (Pencil Yam) plant is the subject of Delvine's painting. The Dreamtime stories surrounding this plant belongs to Alhalkere country in the Utopia Region, northeast of Alice Springs. The Atnwelarre is a trailing herb or creeper, sometimes covering large areas, with bright green leaves, yellow flowers and long skinny yams (swollen roots). These are an important food source which can be eaten raw or cooked in hot sand and ashes.
