Rosie began painting for Mbantua Gallery in 1999 and is part of a large extended family of artists. Her sister, Lena Pwerle (dec), was also a painter and a senior custodian of their country. Rosie's two daughters, Julie Pengarte and Amy Napangardi, are both artists as well.
Initially, Rosie worked in batik, joining over eighty other women from the Utopia Region in Central Australia. Her batik work is featured in the collection 'Utopia - A Picture Story,' part of the Robert Holmes à Court Collection.
In October 2017, Rosie spent two weeks at the Mbantua Workshop with her sister Lena and Lena's daughter Nora, where they created their unique designs and stories.
Rosie paints Soakage and Bush Medicine Plant. Rosie uses circular designs to represent Soakages that are located throughout her country, Ahalpere. Many of these soakages had plenty of water in them long ago although most have dried up now. With their intimate knowledge of the land, Rosie's people knew how and where to find them in their harsh desert environment.
The leaf of the Bush Medicine Plant is gathered and taken back to the camp, ground and mixed with animal oils and then rubbed onto open wounds.
