Nosepeg was born in the Pintupi/Wenampa country, close to Lake Mackay and Kintore. Nosepeg began painting during the beginning of the Papunya art movement, painting his stories of Bush Tobacco and Grass Seed Dreamings. He was the subject of a documentary by Billy Marshall-Stoneking in 1989, 'Nosepeg, A Man For All Times' and has accounts of his life included in 'Wildbird Dreaming' by Amadio & Kimber. He has also had film roles in 'Jedda, Journey out of Darkness' and the television series 'Whiplash' and 'Boney'.
Nosepeg was an important elder and was comfortable in all cultures, becoming friends with former Prime Ministers Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser. He also was a co-discoverer of the gravesite of explorer Lewis Lasseter.
