Alfred Ross Penangke is the son of Lorna (nee Inkamala) and Les Ross. Alfred has lived in Alice Springs for many years where he paints and supplies his landscapes to the galleries. His style of paintings reflects the Hermannsburg School, painting the landscape associated with his country. Alfred uses a strong colour field and often includes rich blue greens to portray the Central Australian landscape.
This landscape by Alfred reflects the colour and formation of the many ranges, hills, gorges and flora that are found in his country, Ntaria (Hermannsburg), West of Alice Springs in Central Australia. This country truly has the blue and purple colours of the ranges in the distance, the rich colour in the sand and an amazing contrast when the plentiful flora is in bloom.
