Patrick is the son of renowned artists Dinny Kunoth and Josie Kunoth. He began painting and carving in his twenties, receiving instruction in sculpture from Dinny, who has long been a respected sculptor in their community. Patrick also learned to paint from his mother, Josie, and developed his own unique style. His artwork often features 'Sculptures' that he creates.
Patrick's grandmother, Polly Ngale, was a celebrated Aboriginal artist with a long and distinguished career. Patrick resides in Alice Springs though he occasionally travels to Utopia to visit his family.
This painting depicts bird sculptures that are carved from the wood of trees found in his country, Ahalpere.
