Marcia was involved in the 1980's batik movement that established the women artists of Utopia. In 2000 she began painting for Mbantua Gallery and paints Dreamtime stories passed down to her from her mother's country, Aharrenge (Lake Nash). Although Marcia's country, Antarrengeny, is actually in the Utopia region, she has spent much time in Aharrenge where she was taught by her mother the songs, dances and stories relating to that region. Her mother was the late artist Margaret Turner Petyarre.

Marcia is married with seven children who include artists Rosabella and Sacha Long.
