Brought up at MacDonnell Downs station, just north of Irrweltye, Jean now resides in a small camp in the Utopia region and lives a very traditional aboriginal life with her extended family including her sister, well known artist, Jeannie Mills.

Painting on canvas for the first time in June 2006, Jean paints the dreamtime story of the Anaty (desert yam or bush potato) which comes from her father's country.

Jean has also been involved in the 1980's batik movement.
